چکیده

We present multicolor Hubble Space Telescope (HST) WFPC2 broadband observations of the Type Ic SN 1994I obtained ∼280 d after maximum light. We measure the brightness of the SN and, relying on the detailed spectroscopic database of SN 1994I, we transform the ground-based photometry obtained at early times to the HST photometric system, deriving light curves for the WFPC2 F439W , F555W , F675W , and F814W passbands that extend from 7 d before to 280 d after maximum. We use the multicolor photometry to build a quasibolometric light curve of SN 1994I, and compare it with similarly constructed light curves of other supernovae. In doing so, we propose and test a scaling in energy and time that allows for a more meaningful comparison of the exponential tails of different events. Through comparison with models, we find that the late-time light curve of SN 1994I is consistent with that of spherically symmetric ejecta in homologous expansion, for which the ability to trap the γ-rays produced by the radioactive decay of Co diminishes roughly as the inverse of time squared. We also find that by the time of the HST photometry, the light curve was significantly energized by the annihilation of positrons. Subject headings: Supernovae

In this paper, the late-time optical photometry of supernova (SN) 1993J in M81 from Feburary 1995 to Janurary 2003 is presented. The observations were performed in a set of intermediate-band filters that have the advantage of tracing the strength variations of some spectral features. SN 1993J was found to fade very slowly at late times, declining only by 0.05±0.02 mag 100 d in most of the filte...

Positron annihilation lifetime spectroscopy in nickel ferrite and iron oxide nanopowders

In this study, a positron annihilation lifetime spectrometer was set up and its resolution was optimized. The spectrometer is a fast-slow arrangement with time resolution of 250 ps. To obtain lifetime components and their intensities from analyzing positron annihilation lifetime spectrum, the Pascual software is used. Positrons are from a source of radioactive 22NaCl with 20 μCi activity enclos...

The rise and fall of the Type Ib supernova iPTF 13 bvn Not a massive Wolf - Rayet star

Context. We investigate iPTF13bvn, a core-collapse (CC) supernova (SN) in the nearby spiral galaxy NGC 5806. This object was discovered by the intermediate Palomar Transient Factory (iPTF) very close to the estimated explosion date and was classified as a stripped-envelope CC SN, likely of Type Ib. Furthermore, a possible progenitor detection in pre-explosion Hubble Space Telescope (HST) images...

The Evolution of Late-time Optical Emission from Sn 1986j

We present late-time optical images and spectra of the Type IIn supernova SN 1986J. HST ACS/WFC images obtained in February 2003 show it to be still relatively bright with mF606W = 21.4 and mF814W = 20.0 mag. Compared against December 1994 HST WFPC2 images, SN 1986J shows a decline of only .1 mag in brightness over eight years. Ground-based spectra taken in 1989, 1991 and 2007 show a 50% declin...
